Hi, I’m Andrea.
When my son was born here in Fernie, I experienced some of the very best parts of living in a small town. The care I received was incredible. I never felt like just another patient—I felt known, supported, and genuinely cared for.
At the same time, becoming a parent was one of the biggest transitions of my life. My family lives far away, and overnight I went from running a business, working, and spending lots of time outdoors to navigating the beautiful, messy reality of new parenthood.
As I talked with other parents, I realized many of us were experiencing similar moments of joy, isolation, overwhelm, and connection. We all seemed to have ideas about little things that could make family life just a bit easier.
That curiosity became the beginning of a question:
What if Fernie could become one of the best places to raise a family?
I don’t know what the answer is yet. That’s why I’m here.
Before building anything, I want to listen—to parents, caregivers, educators, grandparents, healthcare providers, childcare professionals, and anyone who cares about families in our community.
Maybe nothing needs to be built. Maybe there are already amazing organizations that simply need more support or better connections. Maybe there are small changes that would make a big difference.
I don’t know. But I’d love to hear your story.
